Central West End is a lively mixed-use district located on the eastern edge of the city’s prominent Forest Park. Upscale CWE is known for sidewalk cafes, Italian and Asian fusion restaurants, chic boutiques, and a variety of antique stores.

Dining, Entertainment & Shopping

The CWE was named by the American Planning Association as one of America’s Top 10 neighborhoods with some of the best dining, entertainment, shopping and a great nightlife.

Euclid Avenue is known as the Main Street of CWE, connecting Maryland Plaza, McPherson Avenue, and Washington Avenue with more than 75 shops, galleries, restaurants, bars, salons, hotels and other various businesses. The CWE is a very diverse community and is characterized by its stunning architecture, a mix of French Tudor, Colonial, Federal, Greek Revival, Mid-Century and Postmodern styles. The neighborhood is filled with beautiful homes rich in history, along with soaring residential buildings to create a unique atmosphere.

The community is bolstered by the Washington University School of Medicine, Barnes-Jewish Hospital and Forest Park. The park covers 1,326 acres and is the host of several significant events throughout the year and is the nation’s seventh largest urban park. CWE is a growing neighborhood that elicits a feeling of community with endless energy and home to all walks of life.

Schools

Washington University School of Medicine brings a large amount of students to the community, but Central West End is served by the St. Louis City School District.
